The companyAlign Talent has been exclusively engaged to recruit a highly driven and experienced Financial Controller for a dynamic, multi-national property business based in the Melbourne CBD. Our client is a dynamic and progressive business, who have consistently grown over a number of years. They require a Senior Financial Controller to look after their Australia and New Zealand operations.
The roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the organisation as a Senior Financial Controller. The role is initially available as a 6-month fixed term contract. You will be part of a team of high-performing professionals and you will oversee a team. You will report directly to the CFO and you will have direct exposure to the senior management of the business. You will take ownership of the end-to-end finance function from a day-to-day perspective. There is significant scope for personal and professional development for the right candidate. Diverse in nature, the role will cover a range of technical and commercial accounting duties. You will be required to manage key relationships, both internally and externally, and across all levels. The role will include elements of both hands-on and strategic duties, as well as some leadership duties.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the financial control and reporting of the business
- Manage and motivate a team - develop the broader accounting and finance function, managing work allocation, training and service delivery - ensuring a dynamic work environment and culture
- Lead the preparation of annual and quarterly financial statements
- Deliver high quality, informative financial and operational reports
- Lead the annual budget process and quarterly re-forecasting process
- Lead and prepare the monthly/quarterly reporting packs
- Lead and manage all taxation compliance/reporting
- Lead and oversee all treasury requirements
- Continually review the company's accounting practices and policies
- Ensure effective internal controls are maintained
- Ensure the continued improvement and development of the ERP system
- Provide appropriate support regarding potential acquisitions
- Ad-hoc project work
The successful candidateIn order to secure this position, you will be both commercially-minded and technically strong. You will be adaptable and place a strong emphasis on relationship building and business partnering across all levels. You will be confident interacting at the senior level and able to drive outcomes and processes for the business. The following will be favourably looked upon:
- CA/CPA qualifications
- Relevant industry experience in a complex group structure
- Property experience is advantageous but not essential
- Experience within a big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm is advantageous - knowledge of technical accounting standards
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong Excel and ERP system skills
- Staff management experience
- Stakeholder management experience across all levels
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
