Our talented workforce of over 930 employees keeps Tasmania thriving by providing exceptional water and sewerage services to over 460,000 customers every day.

We have a bold and ambitious future, inspired by our vision to unlock water's full potential, and centred on our customers and communities, our people and partners, the environment, and our collective water future.

The Role

This role is responsible for providing both technical and administrative support to the development community by working closely with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders. A key part of the role involves stakeholder liaison and education — helping others understand TasWater's requirements and processes. You'll also support other teams across the department to ensure legislated timeframes are met, contributing to a smooth and efficient customer experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Interpreting and reviewing customer applications and documentation to ensure compliance with TasWater's requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Supporting both internal and external stakeholders by providing timely, accurate technical advice and administrative assistance.
  • Liaising with customers, permit authorities, and other stakeholders to guide them through development-related processes and requirements.
  • Managing enquiries, applications, and complaints — working toward resolutions or escalating when necessary.
  • Using a range of systems and tools (like MS Office, Geocortex, HPE Content Manager) to track, manage, and process information efficiently.
  • Helping educate stakeholders on application standards, processes, costs, and regulatory obligations to ensure clear and consistent understanding across the board.

  • Experience or strong understanding of development processes, relevant legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Previous experience in local government or within a building, design, or plumbing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and legislative requirements.
  • Solid technical skills, including experience with databases, business applications, and Microsoft Office tools.
