P&E Law is a highly respected boutique law firm specialising in planning, environment and native title law with offices in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Cairns.

The Role

We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join our Brisbane office.  The role will be supporting a small team of lawyers in the area of Planning & Environment, and Energy & Resources law.

This is a full-time permanent position that will require efficiency, teamwork and excellent communication skills.  We are open to considering 4 days per week for the right candidate.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • diary management, including booking meetings, conferences, travel, etc.;
  • client liaison and answering incoming calls;
  • typing correspondence and legal documents;
  • electronic filing and scanning of emails, files notes and documents;
  • preparation of counsel briefs and Court documents;
  • billing and accounts processing;
  • banking, court filing and mail collection;
  • assist with managing day-to-day running of office;
  • undertake ad-hoc tasks to ensure operations run smoothly.

Skills/Experience

The desirable applicant will ideally have:

  • 2-3 years' experience working in a legal firm;
  • experience working in the legal industry is highly regarded but not essential;
  • sound knowledge of MS Office;
  • high attention to detail and accuracy;
  • excellent interpersonal and organisational skills;
  • hard-working, self-motivated and willing to learn.

To be successful in this position, you need to have the ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively and be a committed team player. The ability to prioritise workload, multitask and work to deadlines is essential.
