Data Delivery Lead

Your role at St John of God Health Care  

We are seeking a well-rounded Data Delivery Lead to guide and support our data delivery team through the transition from on-premises SQL Server to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring stability, capability, and ongoing growth.

This role combines strong people leadership with solid technical expertise and a learner's mindset. You will lead a small team of data engineers, empowering them to deliver high-quality data solutions in a modernising environment. Success in this role relies as much on communication and team development as it does on technical skills. You'll help embed new practices for working in Google Cloud while maintaining reliable, scalable data solutions that meet both business and clinical needs.

The Position

• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of data engineers, supporting their growth in cloud data platforms.

• Organise and prioritise workloads to ensure clear task allocation and steady progress against delivery goals.

• Facilitate communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, simplifying complex challenges and proactively resolving blockers.

• Manage sprint planning, track progress, and continuously improve team processes.

• Foster knowledge sharing, collaboration, and effective onboarding to build team cohesion.

• Support solution design, data modelling, and ETL processes, ensuring pipelines are reliable, reusable, and meet quality standards.

• Provide technical guidance in SQL Server and GCP environments, helping the team adopt cloud best practices.

About you

You're a natural organiser and communicator who thrives on leading teams through change. You enjoy building confidence in others, translating technical details into practical outcomes, and keeping delivery on track during transitions.

You will bring:

• Proven experience leading teams in data engineering or data delivery.

• Strong communication skills, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Excellent organisational skills to manage priorities, backlogs, and delivery.

• Solid technical knowledge of SQL, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.

• Familiarity with or enthusiasm for cloud data platforms (GCP preferred), with a willingness to learn and guide others.

• A collaborative leadership style that motivates, builds capability, and drives continuous improvement.

• A degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related fields, with 5+ years' experience delivering complex data solutions.
