About the Role

As a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic at Whelans, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment. You'll work alongside a dedicated team to ensure our machinery operates at peak performance, supporting the delivery of high-quality, efficient services across our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy vehicles and plant equipment
  • Conduct minor servicing tasks including fuelling, tyre changes, fluid checks, and greasing
  • Maintain accurate service records and complete workshop documentation
  • Contribute to workshop cleanliness and safety standards
  • Collaborate with the Workshop Manager and team to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs when required

What We're Looking For

  • Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanics (Certificate III or equivalent)
  • 3 years' post apprenticeship experience working as a Mechanic
  • Valid car and/or heavy vehicle driver's licence
  • Proven experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy plant equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
  • Basic computer literacy for digital work orders and service records
