Summary of Role

The Application Engineer - Digital will be part of the rapidly developing Foundation Solutions business unit, working with the global Nextracker team and closely with the US based Applications team. This role is envisioned to become the subject matter expert for the operation of our machines in the field, being able to complete advanced fault finding across electronic control systems, set up, calibrate and maintain GNSS machine control systems and find solutions in challenging environments under time pressure. Operational responsibilities will be broad and will develop with the business, a background in surveying, machine control, and telematics will be highly regarded.

The role will require excellent written language skills to meet our knowledge sharing objectives within the Australian market and our desire to develop a training excellence program.

Accountabilities

Environment, Health and Safety

• Be a visible Safety Leader; be proactive in continual improvement in the welfare of people interacting with the business.
• Proactively challenge the operations team around safety and facilitate discussions around safety improvements.
• Ensure that all safety events are thoroughly investigated, and root causes are identified with suitable corrective actions.

Business Systems

• Work to facilitate the flow of data between machine telematics and the fleet operations system, MaintainX
• Assist with order processing and inventory management system to manage spare parts and operational consumables as a digital specialist

Operations

• Assist in coordination of logistics for equipment
• Fault find digital system in the field
• Assume responsibility for machine control in the field, be the subject matter expert for GNSS, telematics and firmware associated with our machinery
• Attend field trials, program machinery, calibrate and verify machine performance
• Attend testing sites, capture testing data
• Review machine performance logs, work with R and D as new versions are released.

Knowledge Sharing

• Identify key data metrics
• Capture and analyze data over time
• Maintain content on knowledge sharing portal

Training Delivery

• Localize training content to the Australian market
• Train new operators on digital systems

Continuous improvement

• Identify and realize opportunities within the business for continuous improvement through implementations of technology, process and people.

Care of Nextracker property

• All assets are accounted for, maintained and in good working order at all times.
• Minimize risk of property damage, loss and mistreatment of assets under your teams care.

Other duties

• Positively contribute to Nextracker through participation, sharing ideas and previous experiences.
• Perform any other duties as required.

• Leadership skills with the ability to communicate at multiple levels
• Proven ability to develop and manage relationships
• Demonstrated experience with machine control/GNSS systems
• Advanced fault finding ability in machine control systems, IFM experience an advantage
