About the Role

The Construction Services team work to ensure compliance by providing advice on right of entry laws for union officials, industrial relations matters throughout the lifecycle of major projects, support in agreement making, as well as providing training to supervisors and managers on ER/IR matters.

This is a rare opportunity to work in a unique ER/IR environment where you will be able to develop your knowledge and skills as well as being exposed to complex projects. As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will work in a fast-paced and influential team of passionate professionals who help drive the success of large construction projects. You will be providing high quality and accurate employee relations advocacy and consulting services to members, clients and contractors.

This is a full time, permanent position initially based in our Perth CBD office with a future requirement to move into a site based role on FIFO basis as if and when necessary.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Achieve or exceed individual revenue targets.
  • To provide accurate and timely HR/IR advice and guidance to members, contractors and clients as required.
  • Provide accurate and detailed written and verbal advice and information to members on employee relations and human resources issues.
  • Optimise and grow CCIWA's relationship with the construction, mining and resource sectors members, contractors and clients.
  • Ensure clients, their engineers and contractors continue to see CCIWA as the service provider of choice.
  • Ensure that the Construction Services knowledge of the contacts, relationships and competencies of colleagues is fully captured, utilised and shared.
  • Promote the broader range of services provided by Construction Services to target operational opportunities such as maintenance, turnarounds, shutdowns and outsourcing.
  • Promote the broader resources and services that CCIWA offer to the construction, mining and resource sector members, contractors and clients.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IR, HR, Law or equivalent working experience.
  • Ability to develop systems and procedures to deliver labour relations plans.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with proven research skills.
  • Developing knowledge of construction industry, from its management structures and dynamics to work practices and technical applications in the field.
  • Developing understanding of industry and labour relations legislation and the political and social frameworks that create it.
  • Able to manage conflict and aggressive situations calmly, and maintain working relationships.
  • Capable of dealing with a number of tasks at once, ability to plan and prioritise and to close out activities in timely fashion.
  • National Police Clearance and WA Drivers Licence
