Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Screen Australia Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Location: Sydney or Melbourne

Engagement Type: Contract, 2 years

The successful candidate will be engaged under the Screen Australia Act 2008

ABOUT US

Screen Australia's Content Department is where the magic of storytelling comes to life — from feature films and TV dramas to digital projects, games, documentaries and children's content. We champion quality, innovation and cultural value by supporting projects of scale and ambition, as well as distinct local voices. Central to this work, data and insights provide vital support: shaping strategy, guiding investment decisions, and ensuring Australian stories connect with audiences at home and abroad.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a professional to join our Narrative Content Team in the Content & Operations Department. Reporting to the Head of Production and working closely with the broader Content & Operations Department, the Production Executive is responsible for assessing budgets attached to production investment funding applications across all platforms, and monitoring and tracking Screen Australia's financial investment in approved projects to ensure delivery in line with contractual agreements and best industry practice. This role liaises with external production stakeholders and works collaboratively with internal Investment Managers in the Narrative Content, Documentary, Games and First Nations Units as well as the Heads of departments and the Director of Narrative Content.

About you

You will have a strong track record in direct-to-audience/online, film and television environments, with demonstrated financial expertise across production budgets, finance plans and cost reporting —with 5+ years' industry experience as a production accountant, production executive or line producer.

You bring a methodical and analytical approach to assessing production budgets and financial data, delivering accurate and reliable insights.

You have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.

You're highly detail-oriented and comfortable managing your own administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate records through databases and spreadsheets.

Your communication skills — both written and verbal — are well-developed, and you're able to represent the organisation with professionalism, diplomacy and discretion.

You thrive in collaborative environments and actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace culture.
