About the Role

We're seeking a Business Analyst to support strategic and operational cyber security initiatives across Queensland Government. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions capturing requirements, analysing processes, and providing actionable insights to help reduce cyber risks and strengthen security maturity.

This is a contract opportunity based in Brisbane CBD, commencing September 2025 for up to 9 months, with a possible 12-month extension.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities for cyber security initiatives and projects.
  • Capture and document 'As-Is' and 'To-Be' business processes and digital infrastructure requirements.
  • Translate complex business and technical information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, change managers, and stakeholders across government.
  • Investigate problems, analyse options, and provide recommendations for new/existing services and strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring successful project delivery and smooth transitions into business operations.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as a Senior Business Analyst, ideally within government or regulated environments.
  • Strong experience with business process modelling, requirements gathering, and analysis.
  • Skilled in applying business analysis methodologies and tools (e.g., BABOK v3.0).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency with Visio (or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in cyber security projects such as SOC establishment, Supply Chain Risk Management, Cloud Security, or related uplift initiatives (highly regarded).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as ACSC Essential Eight, ISM, NIST CSF, or MITRE ATT&CK (highly regarded).
  • Eligibility to obtain Baseline or NV1 security clearance.
