Kurnai Legal Practice is a Criminal Defence law firm dedicated to providing quality representation to our clients. We are a dynamic, busy and ever expanding legal practice with a strong focus on assisting our clients through the justice system and achieving the best possible outcomes for them.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Working closely with lawyers to assist them in managing clients and files;
  • Assist in managing the diaries of very busy lawyers;
  • Communicating in a friendly and efficient manner with clients, court staff, police and other prosecuting agencies and key stakeholders;
  • Prepare letters, court forms and other legal documents;
  • Submit applications to Victoria Legal Aid for grants of legal assistance;
  • Book client conferences including in custody conferences between lawyers and clients;

Skills and experience

Experience as a paralegal or administration assistant, particularly in a law firm;

Experience working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds;

Experience working with Client management software and Victoria's Legal Aid's ATLAS would be an advantage in this role;

You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment;

Experience working with First Nations people a definite advantage.
