The Senior Legal Counsel position will be part of the Corporate Affairs team of the Deloitte Global Office of General Counsel. Led by the General Counsel, Deloitte Global OGC consists of approximately 50 people, including lawyers and legal assistants located in the US, UK, Australia and various other countries. Deloitte Global OGC has three main groups: Corporate Affairs, Technology and Business Solutions, and Claims, Regulatory & Employment, each of which is led by a Deputy General Counsel. The Corporate Affairs group currently has 5 full-time lawyers, including the Deputy General Counsel. The team is supported by a full-time Corporate Affairs legal assistant.

The new Senior Legal Counsel will be joining a dynamic, innovative and fast-paced legal department, working with lawyers and business leaders around the world.

What Will Your Typical Day Look Like
In this role, you will work within the following areas:

  • Regulatory/Corporate Compliance
  • Supports preparation and submission of corporate filings with corporate registries and regulators in multiple jurisdictions, including in the UK, US, and EU
  • Supports preparation and submission of ESG compliance obligations, as well as other statutorily mandated reporting obligations
  • Interprets and advises on various regulations (e.g., corporate and ESG requirements)
  • Helps business teams operationalize legal and regulatory requirements
  • Supports review of press releases and other external communications
  • Corporate Finance
  • Supports member firm funding arrangements
  • Supports know-your-client processes with banks and other counterparties
  • Supports preparation and submission of US SEC filings
  • Provides legal support on a variety of DTTL finance related initiatives and projects
  • General Legal Matters
  • Provides general legal support for transactions, and other corporate related matters
  • Provides legal support in the areas of corporate governance, including relating to our governing documents and board resolutions.
  • Works closely with Deloitte Global and member firm business and legal leaders around the world

Global General Counsel provides legal guidance and expertise to Deloitte Global, the broader Deloitte organization, and our business leaders. We advise on regulatory, claims, and corporate legal matters, as well as additional issues that may pose novel or unique situations.

Enough About Us, Let's Talk About You
You will have the following experience and qualifications:

Education
: Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Juris Doctor (JD) (or equivalent law degree) from a highly regarded law school

Years of Experience:
5-7 years as a practicing attorney, ideally with in-house counsel experience in corporate compliance and corporate finance.

Qualifications
The below sets forth preferred qualifications, but a strong candidate who is willing to learn may not need to have specific experience in all areas:

  • Experience supporting the preparation and submission of corporate filings with corporate registries and regulators
  • Experience supporting the preparation and submission of ESG filings
  • Experience interpreting and advising on regulations
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about know-your-client processes with banks and other counterparties
  • Highly client-service oriented with a proven commitment to quality
  • Ability to think critically and strategically
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively delivering information orally and in writing
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on confidential and sensitive matters
  • Experience with cross-functional teams such as finance, sustainability, procurement, Risk
  • Ability to work on all facets of matters and directly interface with leaders across the Deloitte Network, given that we are a leanly staffed legal department and everyone on the team handles a broad array of matters
  • Ability to build and maintain business relationships across the Deloitte Network and externally
