Role Purpose

The Traffic Management Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and continuously improving AVADA's field-based traffic training and competency framework. The role ensures that Traffic Controllers and Operations team members are trained, assessed, and verified to perform their duties safely, competently, and in accordance with legal, industry, and company standards.

This position is critical in building frontline capability, enhancing safety outcomes, and embedding a proactive, positive safety culture across operations. The Trainer works closely with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) and Operational teams to identify training needs, deliver targeted learning, and maintain robust compliance and certification records.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver engaging, practical traffic control training and assessments to ensure our Traffic Controllers are safe, competent, and confident to manage live road environments and perform their duties in accordance with legal and industry requirements.
  • Provide field-based coaching on traffic control techniques, procedures, and compliance, identifying gaps in knowledge, skills, and behaviours to strengthen safe and effective performance.
  • Lead induction programs tailored to Traffic Controllers, ensuring new starters are job-ready, understand their safety responsibilities, and are prepared for the demands of the traffic control environment.
  • Mentor and develop frontline Traffic Controllers, supporting career development pathways and identifying emerging leaders to strengthen our operational capability.
  • Work closely with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to onboard suitable candidates, including attending site to observe performance and provide feedback.
  • Support operational efficiency and safety by proactively addressing competency gaps related to traffic guidance schemes, site setup, traffic management plans, and client expectations.

About You

You're passionate about safety, people, and making a difference in the traffic control industry. You bring a practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to lead from the front whether that's on the road, onsite, or in the training room.

Your background includes:

  • A current Traffic Control licences and proven experience working in live traffic environments.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or higher) — you enjoy sharing your knowledge and seeing others succeed.
  • A current C Class Driver's Licence.

You'll also have:

  • Strong, practical experience in traffic management, including both on-road and site-based operations.
  • A solid understanding of traffic management legislation, industry standards, and best practice.
  • Experience working with HSEQ and compliance systems, helping ensure safety isn't just talked about but actively achieved.

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher).
  • RIIRTM301E – Operate Truck or Trailer Mounted Attenuators (TMAs).
