Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources and People Lead is responsible for managing and advancing the HR functions of MEGA Education. This includes recruitment, performance management, professional development, compliance, and staff engagement. The role plays a key part in fostering a positive workplace culture and aligning HR strategies with the organisation's broader educational and operational goals.
Key Relationships
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Works closely with: Academic Managers (ELICOS and Vocational), Campus Director, Student Services, International Relations Manager, IT Administrator, Accounts, Admissions, Teachers/Trainers, and the Senior Management Team
Key Responsibilities
1. Staff Coordination & Support
Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to ensure HR processes are seamlessly integrated into daily operations.
Provide expert guidance on staff development, performance, and wellbeing.
2. Recruitment & Workforce Planning
Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for academic and administrative roles.
Work with senior leadership on strategic workforce planning aligned with institutional goals.
3. Staff Development & Training
Plan and deliver professional development workshops for academic and non-academic staff.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
4. Performance Management
Oversee performance review cycles, provide coaching and feedback mechanisms, and support professional growth initiatives.
Address underperformance constructively and foster teaching and operational excellence.
5. Compliance & Regulation
Ensure adherence to Australian employment laws and education-specific regulations, including the ESOS Act and the National Code.
Maintain policies, systems, and documentation to support regulatory compliance.
6. Employee Relations & Wellbeing
Manage employee relations matters, including grievance resolution and staff support.
Champion wellbeing initiatives that contribute to job satisfaction and staff retention.
7. Strategic HR Leadership
Contribute to the development and execution of HR strategies that support MEGA's long-term success.
Advise senior leadership on workforce trends, talent management, and organisational design.
8. Budgeting & Resource Management
Develop and manage the HR budget, covering recruitment, training, and development.
Ensure cost-effective allocation of HR resources to maximise impact.
9. Staff Welfare & Support Programs
Design and implement initiatives that support mental health, work-life balance, and professional fulfilment.
Promote an inclusive and supportive working environment.
10. HR Reporting & Analytics
Maintain accurate employee records, training logs, and performance documentation.
Provide data-driven insights and reports on HR metrics to the Senior Management Team.
11. Organisational Culture & Engagement
Uphold MEGA Education's values across all interactions and activities.
Lead initiatives that cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and engaged workplace.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
Proven experience in HR leadership, ideally within the Australian education sector, covering ELICOS, vocational, and higher education.
Sound knowledge of Australian HR and employment legislation, and familiarity with education sector compliance frameworks (e.g., ESOS Act, National Code).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse workforce.
High-level organisational and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to manage competing priorities.
A genuine commitment to promoting employee wellbeing, inclusion, and professional growth.
