Campbelltown, Australia Hillsong Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Are you a resilient and caring leader with previous pastoral or church leadership experience?

Do you have proven experience building and leading teams and love to disciple people?

Do you feel called to serve and make a lasting impact at the heart of your local campus?

Our Southwest Campus team is currently looking for a part-time (3days/week) Service Leader to join the team. This role will be responsible for creating and leading engaging, Spirit-filled church services that foster worship, community, and spiritual growth. This role will focus on providing leadership through pastoral care, discipleship pathways, and empowering volunteers across weekly services and special events.

Other aspects of this role include:

Services & Events

  • Provide leadership & vision for your allocated service in alignment with campus direction, fostering volunteer involvement in key roles.
  • Coordinate and empower volunteer teams across all ministry areas, ensuring volunteers are equipped to contribute meaningfully to Youth, Young Adults, and the service.
  • Develop and coach emerging volunteer leaders and communicators, creating opportunities for them to step into leadership within services and other ministry spaces.
  • Model a volunteer-led culture where service, ownership, and initiative are encouraged and celebrated.

Discipleship & Pastoral Support

  • Lead the outworking of discipleship pathways, including connect groups and leadership development for congregation members of your service, through a volunteer-led model.
  • Support New Christians in exploring and growing their faith, leveraging volunteers to walk alongside them in their journey.
  • Manage and engage in the effective use of Pastoral tools such as Planning Center to manage all processes.
  • Train, coach, and release volunteers to disciple, care for, and lead students effectively, creating a culture where leadership is multiplied and sustained by volunteers.
  • Respond to and report safety concerns in collaboration with the Safe Church team and campus leadership.
  • Support faith milestones (e.g., baby dedications, baptisms, marriage preparation) by connecting individuals to next steps.

Volunteers

  • Oversee Service Leadership Teams, identifying needs, recruiting, training, and inspiring volunteers.
  • Build a volunteer leadership pipeline that fosters growth, belonging, and spiritual development.
  • Organise regular volunteer training sessions and implement feedback systems to support ongoing development.

Administration & Reporting

  • Ensure PCO records for ministry areas are current in collaboration with staff and key teams.
  • Develop and maintain workflows for the discipleship pathways team.
  • Submit weekly summary reports and a monthly discipleship report to the Campus Pastor.
  • Collaborate with partnership organisations.

Ideally, the successful candidate will bring:

  • A formal qualification in Theology, Ministry, or a related field (Diploma level or higher).
  • Experience in planning and facilitating workshops, courses, and large-scale volunteer gatherings.
  • Knowledge of modern discipleship models and experience applying them in a local church context.
  • Demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry, with the ability to disciple others, lead teams, and provide spiritual care and oversight.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage staff and volunteer teams, creating a culture of growth, service, and support.
