About the role

Harmony Living Community Services is seeking a motivated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our dynamic team in Sydney, NSW. This is a contract role, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will be between years of age with 2 years minimum industry experience.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing personalized support and assistance to clients with a range of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities
  • Helping clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Facilitating social and recreational activities to promote independence, community engagement, and overall wellbeing
  • Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their needs are met
  • Maintaining detailed records and documentation of client progress and interactions
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care

What we're looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in disability support, community services, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in providing person-centered care and support to individuals with disabilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and empathize with clients
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on client-centered solutions
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with clients with diverse needs and preferences
  • Commitment to upholding the principles of dignity, respect, and independence for individuals with disabilities
