Your new role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Financial Officer to join a dynamic and collaborative finance team within a small government agency. Offered as a labour hire contract, this role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident working across multiple financial systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead budget development and management, including internal and external submissions.
  • Maintain and update financial estimates in the Central Budget Management System (CBMS).
  • Administer daily financial transactions and support system improvements using TechnologyOne.
  • Manage travel and expense processes using Expense8.
  • Analyse financial data to monitor expenditure and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Prepare and distribute management reports and respond to budget-related queries.
  • Oversee asset management processes including stocktake, revaluations, and impairment.
  • Contribute to month-end reporting, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff on AP/AR processes and travel/credit card transactions.
  • Foster strong working relationships across the organisation to support financial literacy and compliance.

What you'll need to succeed

This role is ideal for a well-rounded finance professional with strong experience across core financial functions. You will bring:

  • Proficiency in CBMS is essential.
  • Experience with TechnologyOne and Expense8 is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in credit card and travel management, internal budgets, AP/AR processing, cash management, and financial reporting.
  • A methodical and proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to break down complex tasks and actively research solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build harmonious relationships, communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders, and interpret their needs.
  • A can-do attitude and results-driven mindset.
  • Australian Citizenship and an active
    AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance
    .
