About The Opportunity
The Equity Team Clinical Midwifery Educator will be responsible for delivering and evaluating clinical education programs in consultation with Management, Midwifery & Nurse Educators and Clinical Midwifery Consultants, to support the delivery of clinical best practice, patient service and enhanced patient outcomes for pregnant women with complex needs. The aim of the Equity Model is to pilot a continuity of care stacked interventions service model to reduce inequities and improve health and development outcomes of families from priority population groups.

The role will ensure the educational requirements for the Equity Model team, including midwifery students, are met. They will also provide clinical expertise, support and consultation to women in the antenatal period up to 6 weeks postpartum. This includes service development and evaluation with a primary focus of caring for vulnerable women, including substance use and disability.

What You'll Be Doing
Deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in consultation with Management, Midwifery Educators and Clinical Midwifery Consultants, to support the delivery of clinical best practice, patient service and enhanced patient outcomes.

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.

These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.

With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate Successfully completed or working towards a tertiary qualification in clinical education and/or clinical training or a current technical qualification in workplace training and assessment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of competency-based assessment with experience in education / clinical teaching and developing clinical programs based on adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
