The Opportunity
BlueScope Building Components is looking for a Procurement/Purchasing Team Leader to join the Purchasing team in Emu Plains, NSW. BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.
This is an excellent opportunity where you will be leading and developing a small team of Purchasing Officers as well as assisting with day to day purchasing activities for sites across NSW. With an upcoming system implementation, you will also contribute to strategic input in process improvement, best practices to ensure continuous improvement in day-to-day operations, while also aligning operational strategies with long-term business goals.
What Will You Do?
Being in a dynamic environment, your motivation and ability to think on your feet will result in achieving customer success. As the key contact for purchasing activities, you will:
- lead and cultivate a high-performing purchasing team to consistently achieve agreed service levels, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- deliver sustainable cost savings across the purchasing portfolio through improved pricing, process efficiencies and cost avoidance
- collaborate with sales, operations, and production scheduling teams
- oversee all purchasing-related transactions in alignment with BlueScope's process and governance requirements
- monitor and manage supplier performance issues to ensure quality customer service outcomes
- develop and implement sustainable, cost-effective sourcing strategies by leveraging knowledge of cost drivers, risk mitigation strategies, and industry trends

- excellent organisation and planning skills with a high level of attention to detail
- sound experience in the purchasing and procurement functions
- demonstrated ability to lead and influence people
- the ability to prioritise work and resolve problems effectively and efficiently
- confidence in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new systems
- growth mindset of continuous learning and improvement for yourself and the team
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is desirable
