Senior Manager Disaster Recovery
You can influence outcomes and meet diverse challenges.
This is your opportunity to broaden your experience and perspectives, step out of the confines of a standard project role and expand your scope to work with an interconnected ecosystem of industry professionals.
In this role, you'll:
Lead Transport's coordination and delivery of natural disaster recovery works, ensuring projects are technically sound, constructable, and compliant with Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and NSW Disaster Assistance Guidelines.
Provide expert engineering and project delivery advice to support timely restoration of damaged infrastructure and the development of resilient, future-ready assets.
Act as the key liaison between Transport, the NSW Reconstruction Authority, and local councils, managing disputes, resolving delivery issues, and ensuring alignment across all recovery programs.
Oversee the preparation and submission of eligible funding claims, ensuring documentation, reporting, and governance requirements are met to a high standard.
Implement continuous improvement in disaster recovery processes and frameworks, embedding lessons learned and promoting best practice in design, construction, and asset management.
Manage stakeholder relationships through clear communication, negotiation, and issue resolution to ensure safe, efficient, and commercially viable recovery outcomes.
Note, we are currently hiring for three permanent vacancies to support disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience across New South Wales. These roles will be based in the South, West, and North regions, ensuring local leadership and hands-on support for natural disaster response and recovery initiatives. Working at the intersection of engineering, construction, and recovery delivery, the position ensures that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with government funding and policy requirements.

About you
A hands-on, technically strong professional with a background in civil engineering, construction, asset management, or project delivery, ideally within the transport or infrastructure sector.
Experienced in natural disaster recovery or emergency response environments, with the ability to provide practical, on-the-ground solutions under pressure.
Skilled in dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement, able to collaborate effectively with local councils, state agencies, and contractors to drive recovery outcomes.
Strong understanding of DRFA, NSW Reconstruction Authority processes, and infrastructure governance frameworks, with the capability to navigate complex approval and funding arrangements.
Resilient, adaptable, and outcome-focused leader who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure that supports community recovery.
