The Senior ALT Specialist serves as a leader within the team and works closely with the Head of ALT and other ALT team members in providing day to day technical advice and solutions associated with the services of ALT including litigation support, document management and electronic discovery (eDiscovery).

Responsibilities:

  • Consult on all matters on the relevant Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) for a wide range of legal matters (litigations, regulatory responses, Royal Commissions, virtual data rooms etc.) and ensure implementation.
  • Undertake, manage and oversee all stages and processes of the matters relating to eDiscovery, including prioritising tasks to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Consult with and take instructions from fee earners and provide technical services, advice and support regarding eDiscovery, information and evidence management.
  • In consultation with the legal team, lead document reviews and manage review teams.
  • Consider and utilise the appropriate analytics and TAR/CAL for matters within Reveal.
  • Prepare discovery lists and productions, including quality checks and manipulation of database/table structures as required.
  • Set accurate cost estimates and ensure work is completed as or below the estimated cost or inform legal of any significant cost increases
  • Assist lawyers and clients in the identification of potentially relevant data sources, perform basic data collection and liaise with external providers where necessary.
  • Process client data in-house using Nuix Workstation.
  • Monitor project workflow, identify alternative technical solutions and design and implement customised solutions as required.
  • Ownership of the matter database using Reveal and ongoing support and administration.
  • Manage and provide instructions to external consultants and vendors providing eDiscovery services for hard copy and electronic data.
  • Record matter details in Teams with any specific procedures and guidelines for that project.
  • Draft documentation for internal processes and procedures in line with best practices in evidence management.
  • Adhere to the ALT procedures recorded in the Wiki.
  • Provide support to users relating to virtual data rooms using Ansarada.
  • Provide input into Legal Operations or Information Technology projects as they relate to the ALT team to enhance the working environment, services and technologies.
  • Contribute to national ALT projects.
  • Record time daily.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of document and evidentiary management processes and procedures.
  • Sound understanding of laws of evidence relating to the electronic discovery process.
  • Experienced in the use of eDiscovery and litigation support database platforms.
  • Understanding of the litigation lifecycle, EDRM and eDiscovery rules.
  • Ability to engage, communicate and work effectively with legal teams, IT service desk, members of the IT Department, Legal Operations, Legal Project Management and vendors.
  • Solid experience in similar role at a law firm, professional services firm, or bureau.\
  • Strong Reveal or equivalent database skills with broad knowledge of eDiscovery.
  • Experience with Nuix Workstation desirable but not essential
  • IT or Law Degree preferred.
