Technical Support Senior Solicitor - Legal Officer V

  • Salary range of $154,403 pa - $157,430pa (plus superannuation and leave loading)

  • 2 full time roles available - 1 ongoing and 1 temporary until 30/06/2026 (with the possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing)

  • Flexible work locations across NSW – with the ability to travel to rural and regional areas.

About us

Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.

About the role

Provide support, mentoring and technical supervision of solicitors in the provision of family law and care and protection legal services to socially and economically disadvantaged people. This also includes directly providing legal services to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including in more complex matters.

About you

You bring a strong foundation in family law and care and protection, with hands-on experience navigating complex litigation and confidently running matters through to hearing. Your communication style is clear, thoughtful, and effective whether you're engaging with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders. You demonstrate natural leadership qualities, with a passion for mentoring and developing others to reach their potential. Your ability to upskill and support those around you makes you a valued contributor to any team.

The essential requirements for this role

You must:

  • be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW

  • be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us

  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check

  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)

  • have the capacity to travel to rural and regional areas

The Family Law Division have several roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working with Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working with Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
