Responsibilities

We're looking for a dedicated Criminal Solicitor to join our growing team in Sydney. As part of our firm, you will be responsible for:

  • Client management
  • Providing expert advice on intentional tort claims, such as those related to assault, battery, unlawful detention, excessive force, malicious prosecution
  • Demonstrable experience with matters involving personal injury and compensation
  • Liaising with Counsel
  • Preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and affidavits.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met
  • Working closely with senior solicitors, associate solicitors and paralegals

About You

Please consider the following criteria carefully, and demonstrate how you address all of them in your cover letter:

  • A qualified solicitor with experience in civil litigation (3-5 Years PQE in criminal litigation)
  • Experience working with groups and individuals who experience disadvantage;
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills.
  • The ability and inclination to take initiative;
  • Be resilient (as you will be dealing with sensitive and confronting material);
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to dissect complex legal issues and apply them to real life scenarios;
  • Be respectful, non-judgmental and exhibit a trauma informed approach to client management.
  • Collaborative team player with a passion for client service and legal excellence.
  • NSW practicing certificate is required.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.
