The Role
You will collaborate and partner across Operations, Product Development, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure new products and continuous improvement activities comply with customer, regulatory, food safety and quality standards. The role will also be responsible for managing the national compliance programs that include compliance and regulatory systems such as document control, approved supplier, and customer systems, focusing on the integrity, reliability and accuracy of the Real Dairy Australia Quality Systems.
This is a hands-on role, you will roll your sleeves up, go onto the factory floor, into the warehouses and get involved at all levels.
Responsibilities includes, but is not limited to;
- To ensure that the requirements of the AA and the Export Control (Milk Based Products) Rules 2021 are met and that all staff members are aware of their responsibilities and have the necessary skills and competence to comply with the system.
- Risk Assess Raw material product information forms for compliance with regulatory and customer standards as well as ensuring new raw materials and products introduced to the production facility set the team up for success.
- Deliver Regulatory advice to support the business with a focus on upcoming technologies and preservatives allowing the business to unlock market share nationally.
- Work with NPD, QA & operations to deliver new technologies and preservatives whilst ensuring regulatory standards and food law requirements within Australia are adhered to. Ensuring due diligence is completed in advance of launching new technologies / preservatives. Securing the Real Dairy Australia brands reputation within the industry.
- Perform Regulatory duties including implementation of products, preparation, review and approval of technical documentation for compliance.
- Support development, implementation and maintenance of new products and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with QMS administration and deliver training in systems to greater team
- Artwork and product labelling checks and approvals ensuring any claims are substantiated, validated and appropriate.
- Identify emerging food safety and regulatory issues and assess impact to the business.
- Represent the business and communicate with customers and suppliers.
- Provide internal stakeholders across the firm with advice on a range of risk & compliance issues in line with policies & procedures (some of which you will draft & update);
- Ensuring best practice guidance is adhered to and relevant legislation, standards & guidance is complied with
- Design and implementation of projects & making changes for systematic changes and initiatives.
- Implementation and management of the National Quality and Food Safety Management System, report on the performance of the site quality management system (QMS) identifying and initiating areas for improvement.
- Manage audit schedules and provide feedback on site performance to the business.
- Establish and maintain protocols for the approval and ongoing evaluation of suppliers
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience in leadership role of a FMCG/manufacturing operation
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of modern manufacturing improvement techniques
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
- Relevant qualifications in Food Science
- Extensive experience in Senior QA and Technical roles within Food Manufacturing (essential) with Cheese or Dairy experience highly desirable
