About the Role
This position will:
- Provide support in the development and maintenance of data within the Geographical Information System (GIS) and Asset Management Information System by:
- Creating and updating attributes and spatial features in the corporate spatial data sets including, but not limited to Roads, Pathways, Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Open Space etc.
- Updating Spatial data to represent asset management requirements.
- Liaise with other teams and/or sections on data quality and ensure the quality of spatial related data is maintained with a highest standard.
- Maintaining existing spatial datasets to satisfy internal and external stakeholders' business needs in a professional, accurate and efficient manner.
- Identifying spatial data management opportunities to enhance the quality and continuity of service delivery to the internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive Quality Assurance (QA) between Spatial Register and Asset Register.
- Ensure an accurate Geographical Information System (GIS) and Asset Management System in support of Council's Asset Information Management requirements.
- Ensure the asset spatial data conforms to standards and practices.
- Providing mapping assistance to asset officers.
- Spatial capture of As Constructed plans for Donated and Capital assets.
- Participate in business initiatives to understand and contribute to the development of future asset information datasets that will improve Council's service delivery.
- Participate in and provide cross-training in skills and capabilities within the Asset Compliance team.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives and actively engage in process improvement activities.
- Contribute to the development of relevant standards, specifications, policies, and procedures for spatial information management.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Working knowledge of cadastral, survey and civil engineering/infrastructure plans and standards, and a demonstrated ability to interpret them and translate the information into the corporate Geographical Information System.
- Understanding of best practices in terms of data capture and maintenance procedures, with respect to a local government organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with business information systems specifically in relation to ESRI suite of products and asset management systems.
- An understanding of asset data structures.
- High level communication skills to effectively manage key relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Current Queensland "C" class driver's licence.
