About the Role
Responsibilities of the role will include supervising the entire construction process in accordance with development approvals and ensure that the contributed assets result in value and are fit for purpose for Council. This position provides technical advice and recommendations to developers and community members on matters relating to Council's standards and codes as well as addressing issues of non-compliance. The position also works in a broader multi-discipline planning section where collaboration and teamwork are essential. The position requires good communication skills and negotiation with a variety of stakeholders to balance land use outcomes for the City.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Detailed knowledge of construction and civil design principles associated with the development of engineering projects and municipal infrastructure.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent), or equivalent work experience, or demonstrated progress towards a formal qualification in engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Have a minimum of five years (preferably 10 years) experience in the civil construction and/or asset inspection field.
- Detailed knowledge and ability to apply relevant acts, legislation, Australian Standards, council bylaws and codes of practice concerning the development of infrastructure in the local government sphere.
- High level skills and experience in the communication, negotiation, consultation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to perform in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with sound time management skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and projects.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite applications, business management systems and mobility technology that relates to the assessment/inspection of applications.
- Construction Industry White Card and Current "C" class driver licence.
