About The Role
This position will:

  • Ensure the provision of spatial information products and services within the YCA Program and to the community and other stakeholders including:
  • Develop and deliver spatial solution to meet the Program and stakeholder needs.
  • Provide specialised technical advice, direction and support to Council staff, invasive species groups and public.
  • Liaise with Commonwealth and State Government Agencies.
  • Create, maintain and analyse new and existing spatial datasets to satisfy internal and external stakeholder business needs in a professional, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of GIS through an understanding of emerging and future requirements and technologies and process trends.
  • Assist in the electronic lodgement and capture process of information into the GIS.
  • Equip the team with daily work area polygons for undertaking accurate on ground surveys and treatment in bushland environments.
  • Support the team to provide professional and efficient support to internal and external customers in relation to geographic, treatment and survey information, GPS and mobile mapping.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff within the team to ensure consistent and relevant work output.
  • Apply initiative and judgement to solve problems within the Geographical Information System environment and provide and implement recommendations and solutions where required.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree qualification in Geographical Information Systems or related discipline and substantial relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a GIS technical role (desirable)
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience of current ESRI suite applications.
  • Demonstrated ability in accurate data entry, management, and analysis.
  • Ability to create and upload projects and data to mobile devices for collection of field data
  • Substantial knowledge of Survey Processing techniques and understanding of topological rules as they apply to geographic information.
  • Substantial knowledge and demonstrated experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and spatial technologies.
  • Advanced ArcGIS Desktop knowledge
  • Esri ArcGIS 10.x or later
  • Esri ArcGIS extensions (including 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst)
  • Esri Water and Utility Models; ArcFM extension
  • Geocortex and extensions.
  • Esri Model Builder and Python Scripting.
  • Property and Rating Business Systems; and
  • Document Management Systems.
  • Strong spatial and statistical analytical, modeling and visualisation experience and skills, including 3D, network, geostatistical, demographic.
  • Sound knowledge of cadastral, survey and civil engineering/infrastructure plans and standards, and a demonstrated ability to interpret them and translate the information into the corporate GIS.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, consultation, negotiation, and communications skills.
  • Ability to apply creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technologies and integrating diverse user systems.
  • Demonstrated organisational, time management and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team and to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Current Manual "C" Class license (essential).
  • Construction Industry White Card QLD).
