About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking an experienced Patient Services Officer to join our Patient Services Department.This is a casual position, offering 24–32 hours per week. We're looking for someone who is flexible with working hours, as shifts span 5:45am to 8:00pm Monday through Sunday. This role will commence in early January 2026 and is a great opportunity to contribute to a busy, patient-focused environment.

The Patient Services teams are accountable for the end-to-end patient journey. These key functions include theatre bookings/administration, patient registration, admissions and customer experience, ward reception, health records, patient billings, public contracts and sessional suites.

Salary range: $ $37.35 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits

What you'll be doing

Tasks may include but are not limited to;

• Patient admission, discharges and transfers
• Work within an interdisciplinary team environment and is responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely provision of a range of administrative services.
• Structure clinics for outpatient appointments
• Maintain effective relationship with consultants
• Medical record preparation, tracking, filing and maintenance
• Assisting with patient billing
• Wayfinding and general enquiries.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Demonstrated ability to work methodically with speed, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail in a time-pressured environment.
• Proven experience working in an administrative role within a medical or hospital environment or extensive data entry experience.
• Sound computer literacy and numeracy skills, well-developed keyboard skills, and familiarity with patient administration systems.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work under the direction of others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
