About the Role
Anglicare's Homelessness Services endeavours to empower women to make their own decisions and provide them with the resources they need to take control of their lives and participate in their community. Our team provides accommodation and holistic support via a range of services to help women rebuild their self-worth to make sustainable changes in their lives.
We support women to increase their capacity to sustain tenancies through a trauma informed/recovery orientated/housing first case management framework and are currently looking for a Recovery Support Worker - Accommodation to join our team on a part time basis, and work alongside women who are experiencing / at risk of homelessness who would benefit from support to transition towards independent living.
You will provide one on one practical support working predictable shifts on a rotating roster (which will include weekends and overnight, with a sleepover component), to support a safe and secure environment for women in our residential facility. This a permanent, part-time opportunity at 34 hours per fortnight.
About You
Experienced in the provision of high quality responsive, strength-based practical support within a trauma-informed framework our successful applicant will offer:
- Sound knowledge of issues facing single adult women, or young women who are pregnant or parenting, and are experiencing homelessness
- A strong, robust understanding of Trauma Informed Practice, Recovery Orientated Practice and Housing First Principles
- Practical experience in client support and a sound knowledge of social and community housing within the community sector
- Excellent crisis intervention skills with the ability to coordinate and plan response to risk of safety on site
- Ability to provide practical and emotional support to residents, with a focus on individual needs and situations
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of people
- Proven capability in maintaining objective, accurate and relevant records based on confidentiality, respect and client-centred care
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which maintain a level of professionalism
- Confidence in self-management and the prioritisation of your own workload, along with a collaborative nature and interest in being part of a team
Qualifications will include:
- A Diploma in Community Services or similar field and/or equivalent practical experience
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Blue Card (Working with Children)
- Availability to work a range of shifts including sleepovers and weekends
