Community You works primarily in a community setting. Community You provide supports in community access and capacity building this may look like : day-to-day activities, modelling and teaching life skills, helping with transition to adulthood, school leavers support as well as emotional and mental health supports.

The Right Candidate

In line with the requests of our clientele Community You are looking for 2 x Experienced male support workers for an immediate start this role may involve working primarily with youth and young adolescence. This is a casual role with a 25 + hour roster each week for the right candidates.

The right candidates will have the flexibility to work between the times of 7am-9pm Monday to Saturday.

The right candidate will be invested in Community You and its culture and values.

About the Role

Apart of your role will be working in the community with Participants. These tasks include :

  • Supporting individuals in day-to-day tasks. This could be house duties, appointments, family visits, emotional support, shopping, exercise etc.
  • Use the community as a teaching ground. Finding opportunities amongst day-to-day tasks to help teach and capacity-build clients.
  • Modelling - Many of our youth are looking for role models. Your example and how you carry yourself is an important aspect of your work. You must be reflective and self-aware.
  • A strong understanding of disability and mental health with the ability to recognise when there is a decline in physical health or mental health for your clients.
  • Mandatory reporting. Understanding of how to write case notes. Giving staff, family and management effective handovers.

About You

You will be kind and person-centred with a strong understanding of empowerment. You will want to make a difference and build strong professional relationships with clients and their families. You will want to connect with team members and place importance on communication. We are looking for someone youthful, therapeutic and caring. Resilience is a must.

Youth Work experience is mandatory.

Required Skills/Qualifications

You will have experience working with Youth/ NDIS/ Mental health or relevant experience.

Qualification in disability or a Cert IV in youth work, community services, mental health or equivalent is preferred.

A current Blue Card (Paid).

A current Australian driver's License and comprehensive insurance.

NDIS Screening Check.

NDIS modules completed.

Current Police Check
