As the APD Operator Training Consultant representing Equipment Training Solutions (ETS) based in Australia, you will support dealer development and customer training efforts focused on improving safe, productive, and efficient operation of Cat equipment. This role delivers foundational operator training and supports dealer instructors in developing their skills to Caterpillar standards. The consultant works closely with dealers and customers to ensure training programs meet basic operational needs and promote adoption of Caterpillar's training resources.

What You Will Do:

Training Delivery

  • Provide basic operator training courses to customers and dealers, focusing on machine safety, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring certified dealer instructors (CDIs) and certified dealer operators (CDOs) to ensure alignment with Caterpillar's training standards.
  • Support the delivery of ETS curriculum at dealer sites and customer locations.

Dealer Development

  • Coordinate with dealers to schedule training sessions and provide guidance on course selection and delivery.
  • Facilitate dealer prep sessions and assist with instructor certification activities under supervision of senior ETS staff

Training Logistics

  • Assist with scheduling, quoting, and confirming training sessions in collaboration with ETS and APD teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities and support basic reporting needs.

Curriculum & Materials

  • Provide feedback on training materials and support updates to ensure relevance to customer needs.
  • Serve as a resource for simulator-based training and basic machine technology integration.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Training Operations: Knowledge of training processes and procedures; ability to implement training related tasks and programs to ensure smooth daily and strategic training operations.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Relevant work experience in industry –training, product support, operating, testing – preferably in construction, quarry and/or mining
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment and machine technologies (e.g. Command, Grade, VisionLink, Productivity, MineStar) is a strong plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic proficiency in scheduling and reporting tools
  • Experience operating heavy equipment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with dealer teams.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel is required for this role; must have the ability to travel internationally
