The opportunity on offer
In your role as Legal Counsel, you will be at the centre of Texco's growth, helping us deliver industry-leading industrial projects with confidence and certainty. By working closely with the General Counsel, you'll ensure our contracts, negotiations, and compliance frameworks protect Texco's interests while enabling our project teams to perform at their best.
Reporting into the General Counsel, your key responsibilities will include:
- Undertake timely reviews of head contracts, identifying and escalating legal and commercial risks;
- Support the review and negotiation of supplier, consultant, and other commercial agreements to strengthen project outcomes;
- Monitor, track, and close out technical documentation requirements under head contracts to ensure compliance and project progression;
- Escalate significant legal risks promptly and support the General Counsel in developing practical solutions;
- Provide clear, practical advice to the business on day-to-day contract administration queries;
- Foster effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver efficient outcomes;
- Actively contribute to the improvement of Texco 's legal and contract management processes, tools, and templates; and,
- Stay across relevant legal and regulatory developments and support their integration into business practices.
A bit about you
You will bring a strong foundation in commercial law, ideally within the construction or industrial sector, and be motivated to grow your career as part of a high-performing in-house legal team. You'll be someone who enjoys working closely with project teams and leaders, providing clear, practical advice that helps others move forward with confidence.
To be successful, you will also demonstrate:
- A Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor, with a current Practicing Certificate.
- Experience in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to construction, industrial property, or related sectors.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to apply these in commercial, solutions-focused way.
- A growth mindset and curiosity to continually improve processes, develop your expertise, and contribute to Texco's long-term success.
- Most importantly, you'll align with Texco's values and brings a proactive, relationship-driven approach to everything you do.
