Speech Pathologist – be, Maleny (Jinibara Country), QLD
Full-time or Part-time | Flexible & Supportive Team | Multidisciplinary Environment
Neurodiversity-Affirming | Relationship-Based | Child-Led Practice
About Us
At be, we do things differently. Based in the beautiful hinterland town of Maleny, on Jinibara Country, (just 30 mins from the Sunshine Coast and 1 hour from Brisbane), our neurodiversity-affirming clinic supports children through connection, co-regulation, play, and real-world functional growth using the DIR Floortime model.
Our team of speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and allied health assistants work together to deliver meaningful, respectful, relationship-based supports. We also share our clinic with a visiting psychologist and paediatrician, enhancing the wrap-around support available to families.
Why Join Us?
Our Approach
- We focus on play-based, child-led supports that prioritise relationships and emotional safety.
- All team members are trained in DIR Floortime, with support to complete advanced training pathways.
- We actively listen to and learn from the neurodivergent community to continually reflect and improve our practice.
Our Culture
- We are values-driven, flexible, team-oriented, and fun
- Weekly professional development and case conferencing is embedded into our calendar.
- We prioritise supervision, mentoring, and shared reflection.
Our Community
- We believe in finding new ways to support families beyond the therapy room.
- We run free community playgroup for families with young children.
- We're developing Humble Grounds - a not-for-profit coffee hut where 100% of profits go toward improving access to allied health and medical services for local families. (It's a bonus we will have a fully functional coffee hut on site too)
Our Location
- Maleny offers a peaceful, community-minded lifestyle with rolling green hills, vibrant culture, and a strong sense of connection.
- Our clinic is designed with large, flexible spaces, including a purpose-built outdoor play area (with a large sandpit, tree swing, cubby, and vege garden) that encourages creativity and regulation.
The Role: Speech Pathologist
As a Speech Pathologist at be, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming speech pathology services to children and families.
- Work in partnership with our multidisciplinary team to create supports that prioritise connection, co-regulation, and functional communication.
- Provide therapy across a variety of settings: clinic, home, school, childcare, and community.
- Collaborate closely with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and inclusive support system.
- Participate in weekly PD and case conferencing as part of our commitment to ongoing learning and best-practice care.
- Contribute to service development and team-based innovation.
- If desired, take on a leadership and mentoring role with early career therapists, students, and allied health assistants.
About You
We're looking for a Speech Pathologist who brings:
- SPA registration (or eligibility).
- A commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice.
- Experience or interest in the DIR Floortime approach (training provided).
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD, developmental differences, and sensory processing challenges.
- A relationship-first mindset, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A flexible, reflective, and team-oriented approach to therapy.
What We Offer
- A culture like no other
- Above award salary.
- Generous PD allowance and paid PD days.
- Access to your own work car and laptop.
- Gradual case-load build-up and Low KPIs.
- Career progression opportunities including leadership, mentoring, and service design.
- Supportive, flexible work environment with part-time and full-time options, including 4 day working week and dedicated admin days.
Ready to Join the Team?
If you're excited by the opportunity to do meaningful work in a supportive, values-driven team - and to help shape a service that thinks beyond the traditional - then we'd love to hear from you.
