Position Details:

The Team Leader assists the Upholstery Manager to supervise and coordinate daily operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and efficiency goals are met. This role supports the Manager in planning, monitoring costs, and driving productivity improvements while maintaining a safe and organised work environment.

It's a hands-on supervisory role that combines active engagement on the factory floor with proficient use of computer skills to manage and optimise operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Production Planning & Coordination

  • Assist the Manager with weekly production planning to meet deadlines, quality standards, and budget requirements.
  • Allocate tasks effectively and monitor workflow to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks or delays to maintain operational efficiency.

Team Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Upholstery staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to company standards.
  • Provide support to employees, fostering skill development and high performance.
  • Promote a positive team culture, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

Resource & Inventory Management

  • Ensure materials, tools, and personnel are available to meet production targets.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with relevant teams to prevent shortages or delays.
  • Assist in maintaining an organised inventory system for all Upholstery materials.

Quality Control & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct inspections to ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Support productivity initiatives by identifying areas for process improvement and implementing efficiency strategies.
  • Assist with new product development initiatives as required.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) regulations, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry compliance standards.

What do you need?

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment (preferably Upholstery or similar).
  • Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, and cost control.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate a team to achieve high performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage production challenges effectively.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of WHS regulations and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and production tracking software (desirable)
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook?
  • Physically fit, with some lifting required
