About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Sales Engineer to join our team. This role combines technical expertise with sales strategy to drive business growth and client engagement across engineering projects.
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for:
- Precontracts:
Drive early-stage business development, ensuring opportunities are well-positioned for successful conversion to contracts. - Pursuits:
Identify and prioritise target clients and projects, develop strategic pursuit plans, and convert leads into secured contracts. - Promotions:
Work closely with marketing teams to amplify campaign reach—developing collateral, presenting at webinars, and representing the brand at trade shows or events. - Customer Experience (CX):
Serve as a trusted advisor and main point of contact, ensuring consistent, high-quality engagement throughout the customer journey—from initial contact through project delivery. - Intel:
Collect, analyse, and apply industry and competitor insights to inform sales strategy and identify growth opportunities. - Sales:
Drive conversion of qualified leads into successful contracts and project wins. - Bids:
Lead the creation, submission, and strategic positioning of tender responses—overseeing pricing models, technical content, risk considerations, and proposal refinement. - Panels & Prequals:
Maintain and update supplier panels and prequalification systems, ensuring compliance and readiness for new business opportunities.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Background in engineering, infrastructure, business, or technical sales.
- 3–7+ years of experience in a sales, pre-sales, or business development role — preferably in engineering, infrastructure, or SaaS environments.
- Proven success in managing pre-contracts, bids, or technical sales processes.
- Experience working with tendering, panel submissions, and client engagement strategies.
- Familiarity with both consulting and technology product sales is advantageous.
Attitude and Disposition
- Ability to translate technical solutions into business value for clients.
- Understanding of infrastructure or engineering project lifecycles and related procurement processes.
- Exposure to SaaS platforms or digital engineering tools is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to negotiate and close deals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong relationship-building skills across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Other Desirable Qualities
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline tools.
- Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate prequalification systems and client records.
