Willoughby City Council is seeking a Strategic Property Specialist with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to support the management and strategic development of Council's diverse property portfolio. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence long-term asset strategies, contribute to innovative property initiatives, and ensure transparent, compliant management of leases, licences, acquisitions, and disposals — all while helping shape the sustainable use of public land for our community.

About the Role

As a Strategic Property Specialist, you will:

  • Support preparation, monitoring, and delivery of the property portfolio budget.
  • Proactively manage legal and financial issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • Review property assets and contribute to long-term strategic planning with commercial and social considerations.
  • Develop and implement strategic property initiatives, including sales, leasebacks, and divestments.
  • Investigate revenue-generating opportunities within legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Prepare reports, policies, and correspondence for leadership and Council on property initiatives and transactions.
  • Represent Council as owner on strata committees and ensure compliance with operational policies and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and foster strong project, financial, and contract management skills within the team.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Property, Business, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in property management, urban planning, or similar, preferably in government.
  • Strong financial and budget management skills, including experience identifying and developing income-generating opportunities
  • Proven ability to review property portfolios and deliver development strategies, including acquisitions, disposals, and redevelopment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and property management systems, with strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and within teams, meet tight deadlines and contribute to organisational improvements
  • Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in local government or public sector property management
