The role

The NSW Government's
Pre-Sale Finance Guarantee
program is a bold new initiative designed to unlock housing supply by helping developers overcome financing barriers and progress viable residential projects. As part of a newly established team within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, we have a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact program that's accelerating housing delivery across the state.

As the Senior Finance Business Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in guiding the financial performance of the Pre-sale Finance Guarantee Program. This is a high-trust, high-impact role where your expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and reporting will directly support executive decision-making. You'll lead the development of cash flow forecasts, manage reporting to NSW Treasury, and provide analytical reviews that highlight risks, opportunities, and performance trends. Your work will ensure financial integrity and help drive sustainable outcomes in a complex, fast-paced environment.

We're looking for a CPA or CA-qualified professional with a sharp analytical mindset, strong communication skills, and ideally, experience in property finance.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strong expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and government financial frameworks, with a focus on compliance and probity.
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and deliver high-quality financial reporting, including Treasury submissions.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate financial insights into clear, actionable advice for diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative and adaptable team player, committed to continuous improvement and achieving outcomes under pressure.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
