About Our Client
Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient management of Australian airspace. Each year, they manage more than four million aircraft movements carrying over 154 million passengers, and provide critical aviation services across 11% of the world's airspace.

Job Description
As Deputy Board Secretary, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering high-quality governance and secretariat services to the Airservices Board, the Executive team and its Committees. Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Board Secretary, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability in a fast-paced and strategically significant environment.

You will:

  • Provide expert support to the Board, wider Executive team and Committees, including preparation of Board and Committee minutes, agendas, briefing materials and correspondence in coordination with the Chair and CEO.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate governance obligations, legislative requirements, and ministerial expectations.
  • Lead the coordination of Board-related reports, Ministerial briefings, and key organisational documentation such as the Annual Report and Corporate Plan.
  • Oversee the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman (ANO) function including stakeholder engagement, cost centre management, and inter-agency coordination with Defence and government representatives.
  • Manage a direct report - the Board Support & Events Coordinator - and oversee seamless delivery of Board operations and events.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and liaison to internal and external senior stakeholders, including Board members, the CEO, ELT, Department of Infrastructure, and the ANO's office.

The Successful Applicant
We are seeking a strategic governance professional who is deeply experienced in board operations, government or parliamentary processes, and high-stakes stakeholder management. You will be a proactive leader, capable of navigating a complex regulatory and executive environment with poise, precision, and diplomacy.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in corporate governance or company secretariat roles within government, regulatory, or large commercial entities.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and complex matters at an executive level.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing high-quality Board and Ministerial papers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders including Board members, senior executives, and government departments.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing staff and supporting high-performance teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Governance, or related disciplines.

What's on Offer
This is more than a governance role - it's an opportunity to work at the heart of national strategy in a technically complex and politically visible organisation. At Airservices, they offer:

  • A leadership position with visibility at Board and Ministerial level.
  • Supportive working arrangements.
  • A strong organisational culture grounded in purpose, innovation, and integrity.
  • A unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of Australian aviation and public sector governance.
