About the role

The Quality Team is expanding in response to increased production quantities and product complexity. DroneShield is looking to recruit QA Technician who will work with the team to ensure DroneShield products are built to a high standard and components received from our suppliers are consistent in quality and performance.

The position will report primarily to the QA Team Lead and will work closely with the Production Team, Operations Team, and the Procurement Team. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX listed defence technology company.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Perform incoming inspections on received materials and components to ensure they meet quality specifications before entering production.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections of DroneShield-manufactured products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Conduct final outgoing quality checks prior to product shipment.
  • Record and maintain QC results accurately in the ERP system for all inspection checkpoints.
  • Identify and manage nonconforming parts, ensuring they are properly moved to the quarantine area.
  • Raise Quality Alerts or Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any failed components or finished goods.
  • Perform condition assessments and prepare documentation for returned products.
  • Report quality issues or trends identified during incoming or outgoing inspections to the Quality Manager or QA Officer.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally involving complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Strong technical foundation gained through formal training or practical experience in electronics, mechatronics, or manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience using inspection and measurement equipment to verify product quality.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Odoo, Oracle, or similar platforms (preferred but not essential).
  • Exposure to RF equipment and electronics is advantageous.
  • Strong technical aptitude and curiosity for technology, with the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex technical issues to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced production team.
  • Demonstrated respect for process and integrity, consistently following procedures and doing the right thing, even when unsupervised.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and remain effective under pressure.
  • Positive, "can-do" attitude with a willingness to assist across different tasks, including those outside core responsibilities when required.

Note for recruitment agencies: we do not accept floated candidates from external recruiters unless they were instructed to do so.
