Denison College of Secondary Education is an innovative dual-campus college located in Bathurst, a vibrant regional city three hours from Sydney. Denison College connects Bathurst High Campus and Kelso High Campus, leading to well-developed collaborative structures and programs that add value to the excellent educational opportunities available to students at both campuses. Denison College is the largest provider of secondary education in our local community, with two comprehensive 7-12 high schools and a combined enrolment of over 1,700 students.

The Head Teacher of Teaching and Learning, based at Kelso High Campus, operates within a multi-campus college team while also being a member of the campus executive team. The dual nature of the role necessitates high-level collaborative skills; however, the core focus is always on leading improved teaching and learning on the campus. The role demands a strong instructional leader to work with campus executive and classroom teachers to build professional capacity, with a view to fostering positive student outcomes at Kelso High Campus.

Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability at a whole-school level to lead, deliver, and evaluate high-impact professional learning that supports the professional growth of all teachers, including an enthusiasm to collaborate with executives beyond their own school, with a view to co-designing evidence-informed professional learning that positively impacts teachers across multiple contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a dynamic member of the school's executive leadership team and lead initiatives to address whole-school strategic directions within the School Excellence Plan.
- Experience in supporting curriculum head teachers to engage their staff in evidence-informed practices to grow the professional capital of the faculty with a view to improving student outcomes, whilst also demonstrating a capacity to facilitate cross-faculty professional learning communities that aim to promote excellence in teaching and learning practices across the whole school.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the analysis of data from traditional and non-traditional sources to develop creative contextualised solutions that incorporate innovative practices, leading to improved teaching and learning outcomes that benefit all students.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Special NotesThe successful applicant will be appointed to Denison College and initially based at the Kelso Campus.
