We're seeking an experienced Intermediate Tax Accountant with in-depth knowledge of Australian tax law and a strong background in public practice. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to client advisory. This role involves managing complex tax compliance and advisory projects, collaborating with clients, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review tax returns, financial statements, and other compliance reports for individuals, trusts, companies, and partnerships in accordance with Australian tax laws.
  • Conduct tax planning and advisory services, identifying opportunities for tax minimisation and efficiency for clients.
  • Stay updated on Australian tax legislation and ATO guidelines to ensure compliance and provide relevant advice to clients.
  • Manage client relationships by addressing queries, providing strategic business advice, and developing tailored tax strategies.
  • Mentor and supervise junior accountants, ensuring quality and efficiency in deliverables.
  • Support the practice in implementing best practices and driving efficiency through tech-based solutions.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CA/CPA qualification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a public practice accounting firm, with a strong focus on Australian tax law.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian tax legislation, including GST, FBT, CGT, and Division 7A.
  • Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and business advisory for SMEs.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software (experience with Xero and MYOB is advantageous).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex tax matters into actionable advice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships.
