About the Role
As an
Infrastructure Systems Administrator
, you'll be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of complex Defence ICT infrastructure. This hands-on role spans
Windows Server
,
Linux (RHEL)
,
networking
,
virtualisation
, and
cybersecurity
technologies — supporting and enhancing mission-critical systems in a secure Defence environment.

You'll collaborate closely with technical specialists and key Defence stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain
    Windows Server 2022
    and
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
    systems
  • Manage
    Active Directory
    ,
    Group Policy
    ,
    DNS
    ,
    DHCP
    , and system security/hardening
  • Configure, support, and optimise
    Hyper-V
    and
    VMware
    virtual environments
  • Manage
    Veeam Backup & Replication
    , including disaster recovery testing and planning
  • Configure and troubleshoot
    Cisco
    switches/routers and
    FortiGate
    firewalls
  • Maintain
    LAN, WAN, and VPN
    infrastructure with a focus on uptime and security
  • Support the integration of simulation systems and architecture
  • Ensure compliance with
    Defence cyber standards
    and policies
  • Automate administrative tasks using
    PowerShell
    and
    Bash scripting
  • Provide
    Tier 2/3 support
    and maintain detailed operational documentation
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams within structured change management processes

About You
You're an experienced
Systems Administrator
who thrives in high-security, performance-driven environments. You bring technical depth, precision, and a strong commitment to operational excellence.

You'll bring:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Systems Administrator in a medium-to-large IT environment
  • Strong experience with
    Windows Server
    and/or
    RHEL
    systems
  • Proven skills with
    Cisco networking
    and
    FortiGate firewalls
    (VLANs, routing, VPNs, multicast)
  • In-depth understanding of
    Active Directory
    ,
    DNS
    ,
    DHCP
    , and
    Group Policy
  • Hands-on experience with
    Hyper-V
    ,
    VMware
    , and
    Veeam
  • Strong networking knowledge:
    TCP/IP
    ,
    routing
    ,
    switching
    ,
    VPNs
    ,
    multicast
  • Awareness of
    cybersecurity principles
    and
    Defence information assurance
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Active NV1 Defence Security Clearance
