Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Solar & Battery Installer to join our growing team. Operating primarily across residential settings, you will install and commission solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems following national and NSW state regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments to determine system layout, rooftop access, safety requirements, and local approvals.
  • Install solar panels, mounting systems, batteries, and inverters.
  • Execute electrical wiring work in compliance with NSW and national codes, including AS/NZS wiring rules and NSW Service & Installation Rules.
  • Prepare site-specific Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), manage fall protection, scaffolding/EWP access, and electrical risk controls.
  • Show clear knowledge of layout documentation requirements under AS/NZS 5033 (e.g. affixing PV system layout at the switchboard).
  • Conduct testing and commissioning to ensure system functionality and readiness for small-scale technology certificate (STC) processing.
  • Coordinate grid connection processes with NSPs (e.g., Ausgrid, Endeavour, Essential Energy) and handle compliance paperwork.
  • Provide customers with operation instructions, compliance documentation (e.g,. CoC/CCEW), and recommendations for maintenance.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and free of hazards.

Regulatory & Licensing Requirements

  • Hold a valid NSW Electrical Contractor Licence.
  • Maintain SAA (Solar Accreditation Australia) Accreditation for solar battery installations; mandatory for STC eligibility. Contact us if you have the solar accreditation but would need battery accreditation.
  • Ensure all installed PV modules and inverters are listed on the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved product list.
  • Adhere strictly to electrical safety, work health, and safety mandates such as SWMS and fall prevention systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed apprenticeship as an Electrician or equivalent electrical certification (licensed in NSW).
  • SAA-accredited installer and designer for solar and battery systems.
  • Proven experience in solar PV and battery installation, including electrical wiring in residential environments.
  • Strong understanding of SWMS, OHS practices, and rooftop safety systems.
  • Excellent workplace communication, attention to detail, and customer service focus.
  • Physically fit to work on roofs and handle manual equipment.
  • Must provide own hand tools and power tools suitable for solar installation work
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in solar PV and battery installation
