Workshop Foreman

MG Fabrication, a leading steel fabrication and supply business based in Lismore and part of the MESI Group business, is looking for skilled Workshop Foreman/Experienced Boilermaker to join our growing team.

What we're looking for:

• Trade-qualified (boilermaker/welder or equivalent experience)
• Current drivers licence and own transport
• Current forklift Licence an advantage
• Computer/Phone skills are an advantage
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Strong fabrication and welding skills (MIG/TIG/Stick)
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings
• A great work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engineering and fabrication strategies that support both current production needs and MG Fabrication's long-term goals.
• Mentor and provide training to apprentices and assist tradesmen and workshop staff to perform works in a safe and efficient manner
• Oversee the quality of all fabrication and welding works, ensuring they meet company standards and client expectations, with issues resolved quickly and effectively.
• Provide steel sales to customers
• Communicate with customers and clients to deliver a high level of service.
• Ordering of materials for upcoming jobs and maintaining stock steel levels
• Organise deliveries of materials to and from the workshop
• Champion a strong safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements in a dynamic environment.
• Support management in creating, updating, and improving department policies and procedures to drive efficiency and consistency.
• Lead regular team meetings/toolbox talks to keep communication clear, timely, and effective across all levels of the business.
• Handle minor workplace issues proactively and escalate concerns to management when required.
