The Opportunity
We are looking for a Town Planner to join our growing team. This role is open to both experienced professionals and emerging planners looking to take the next step in their career. If you have a strong interest in regional development and planning in Western Australia, we encourage you to apply.
This position is based in Perth, but we will consider applications from Karratha-based candidates, with housing incentives available for the right applicant.
You will have the opportunity to develop expertise in land use and development matters unique to Western Australia, including Crown Land, Native Title, Aboriginal heritage, and land tenure considerations. This role provides the chance to work on meaningful and complex projects across the state while broadening your planning skill set.
Regional travel will be required as part of this role to engage with stakeholders, conduct site assessments, and oversee project developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legislative research and provide well-informed planning advice.
- Manage project applications within state and local planning frameworks.
- Assess land use opportunities and constraints across various development types.
- Engage with government agencies, community groups, and industry specialists.
- Contribute to business development and foster new project opportunities.
- Coordinate with subconsultants to ensure successful project delivery.
Your Qualifications & Experience
We welcome applications from candidates with a range of experience levels. Remuneration will be based on experience and expertise.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning
- 4- 6 years experience in town planning
- Knowledge of Western Australian planning legislation, policies, and approval processes.
- Experience (or an interest in developing expertise) in managing development applications, structure plans, and rezoning processes.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and planning-related software.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
