Planner/Scheduler – Maintenance & Shutdowns (Iron Ore Mining)

8/6 Roster | Ongoing Contract | Western Australia

Our client, a leading iron ore mining company, is seeking an experienced Planner/Scheduler to join their site-based team in Western Australia. This role will play a key part in supporting maintenance and shutdown activities, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and minimal downtime across mining operations.

The mine site located about 200 – 220 km southeast of Geraldton in the Mid West region of Western Australia, is the largest iron-ore mining operation in the area and one of only two magnetite producers in the state. Established in 2007 the open-pit mine produces a premium high-grade magnetite concentrate—at a design capacity of approximately 8 million tonnes per annum—which is exported to steelmakers under an offtake agreement. It operates with a lifespan of over 30 years and is supported by dedicated infrastructure, including a railway connection to the Geraldton port

About the Role:

  • Site-based role on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling preventative, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Long-term, ongoing contract position with a well-established mining operator.
  • Exposure to a dynamic team environment with a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and maintain detailed maintenance and shutdown schedules.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, operations, and contractors to ensure resources and materials are aligned with the work plan.
  • Monitor progress and provide updates on schedule adherence, risks, and improvements.
  • Utilise SAP and Microsoft Projects to create, manage, and track work schedules.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance planning and execution.

About You:

  • Proven experience in a Planner/Scheduler role within the mining sector.
  • Strong background in maintenance and shutdown planning.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Projects (essential).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a safety-first mindset.
