Job Description
The Australian Financial Review is looking for a highly skilled editor to oversee commissioning, editing and production of special reports, custom reports and advertising features. The successful candidate will have strong editorial instincts and a commitment to quality, ensuring all content is compelling and upholds journalistic standards. This role offers the opportunity to create new reports that will build on the brand and deliver high-quality content for the Financial Review's audience.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity.
Day-to-day you will:
- Liaise with commercial and editorial teams to determine special report topics and publication dates based on client objectives
- Commission, edit, and oversee the production of special and custom reports, as well as advertising features
- Ensure content is high-quality, compelling, and appeals to a digital audience
- Collaborate with senior Financial Review journalists and editors to ensure content is newsworthy and aligns with the AFR's editorial stance
- Manage communication with internal and external writers and production staff to ensure all special reports are delivered on time
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in journalism or a similar field
- Print and online editing experience
- An understanding of the key issues of interest to the AFR audience
- Proven ability in project management and handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of editorial processes and print production
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with INK editing platform is desirable
