Bring stories to life as an Assistant Editor (Clerk Grade 5/6)

We are excited to announce an opening for an Assistant Editor within our Curriculum directorate.


• Location: Parramatta with access to flexible working arrangements available

• Salary: Clerk Grade 5/6 with base salary ranging from $99,938 to $110,271 per annum, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

• Temporary full-time opportunity up to four (4) years, with possibility for extension or conversion to ongoing

About the Curriculum directorate

The Curriculum directorate is responsible for supporting the implementation of policies and design of high-quality evidence-based resources and tools to support curriculum implementation across P-12. We coordinate special programs, and we lead the department's response to the NSW Curriculum Reform.

About the role

The Assistant Editor provides editorial support to a range of stakeholders to ensure all public-facing documents across the Curriculum directorate meet the requirements of the department and the NSW Government. This includes editing, proofreading, formatting and delivering a large volume of print and digital resources that are compliant with the department's accessibility, branding and style guidelines and requirements.

Key knowledge and experience:

• Proven experience in editing long and short-form content for a range of mediums, including print and digital, in line with a style guide.

• Proven experience in editing and formatting content in Microsoft Work and Microsoft Excel.

• Proven experience liaising with subject matter experts to refine and finalise content ready for publication.

• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements:

• Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one) 

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
