Mainframe Developer (COBOL)

About our client:

Our client is a leader in professional services and consulting, providing a wide range of services including strategy, consulting, technology and systems integration, and operations to a range of clients across Government, Financial Services, Utilities and more.

About the role:

An opportunity exists for a Mainframe Developer to work with one of their Big 4 Banking clients. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining mainframe applications using programming languages such as COBOL, PL/1, and JCL.

This role involves working with database management systems, understanding mainframe security principles, and handling batch processing and job scheduling. The developer will also be expected to have strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, and JCL.
  • Work with database management systems (IMS/DB2).
  • Utilize knowledge of CICS.
  • Understand and implement mainframe security principles and protocols.
  • Handle batch processing and job scheduling.
  • Solve problems and debug issues effectively

Required Experience:

To ensure success in the role, you will be proficient in programming languages like COBOL, PL/I, and JCL.

What's on offer?

This contract is available for an initial 6 months with multiple extensions. Total contract length is 2-3 years.

Located in Sydney, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement..
