About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Colourist and Stylist to join our team at Urban Room Hair in Townsville, QLD. These are 2 different roles.

What you'll be doing as the Head Colourist

  1. Provide exceptional colour services, including all-over colour, balayage, and creative colour techniques
  2. Deliver high-quality haircuts, styles, and treatments for clients
  3. Train and mentor other staff ensuring up to date knowledge of industry trends and techniques
  4. Assist with salon operations, including inventory management and customer service
  5. Contribute to the overall success and growth of the salon, maintaining the salons reputation as a top colour destination in Townsville
  6. Oversee colour services performed by other staff

What we're looking for

  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a colourist with at least 1-2 years in a senior and/or leadership role
  2. Proven expertise in a wide range of colour techniques and advanced styling methods
  3. An eye for detail and a passion for creating beautiful healthy hair colour
  4. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build strong client relationships
  5. A team-oriented approach and the willingness to mentor and develop junior stylists
  6. Relevant qualification in hairdressing.

What you'll be doing as a Senior Stylist

  • Deliver hair services including cutting, coloring, styling, and treatments
  • Consult with clients to understand their needs and offer expert advice
  • Mentor junior stylists and contribute to their professional development
  • Stay current with hair trends, techniques, and product knowledge
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and professional salon environment
  • Build and retain a loyal client base through excellent service

What we're looking For:

  • Relevant qualification in Hairdressing
  • Confident in all aspects of hairdressing, including advanced color techniques and cutting
  • Friendly, reliable, and passionate about the industry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong client service and communication skills
