Position Summary:

About the Role We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and hands-on Maintenance Manager to elevate our maintenance operations and drive the advancement of Clayton's manufacturing automation strategy. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee all maintenance activities at our industry-leading kitchen and furniture manufacturing facility, integrating, maintaining, and optimizing advanced Homag woodworking systems, robotic automation, and production machinery to deliver exceptional operational performance, maximum equipment uptime, safety compliance, and operational efficiency through proactive strategies, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. 

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Optimization:  

Diagnose, repair, and enhance the performance of Homag woodworking machinery (Saws, Edgebanders, Postformers, Drilling Machines, CNC Machines) and automated systems, including robotic arms, conveyors, and material handling equipment, to maximize uptime and efficiency. 

Preventative Maintenance:  

Direct all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure 98%+ equipment availability by designing, implementing, and continuously improving a robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program using CMMS data and OEM guidelines, mitigating unplanned downtime annually through root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and ensuring 100% compliance with national safety legislation and industry-specific safety standards. 

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:  

Identify and resolve issues in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems, leveraging strong analytical skills to minimize disruptions. 

Process Improvement:  

Apply Lean Maintenance principles (5S, TPM, SMED) to reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), implement Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies to shift from reactive to predictive maintenance, and collaborate with production operators and cross-functional teams to enhance equipment reliability, streamline processes, and boost overall operational efficiency. 

Documentation & Compliance:  

Maintain accurate service logs, calibration records, and technical documentation in alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements. 

Team Leadership & Training:  

Lead, mentor, and train a team of tradespeople, cultivating a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while fostering a zero-incident safety culture through daily toolbox talks and monthly safety audits. 

Building Maintenance:  

Ensures the manufacturing facility's structure, including roofs, walls, floors, and exterior areas, remains safe and functional. They enforce compliance with national OHS legislation, environmental, and building regulations while conducting regular safety inspections. Risk assessments help identify and mitigate hazards to protect employees and maintain operational integrity. 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field

Experience

• 5+ years in maintenance management within kitchen, furniture, or high-mix manufacturing.
• Proven track record in CMMS implementation (e.g., MEX) and PdM program rollout.
• Experience managing 24 hour shifts

Technical Skills

• Experience with Homag woodworking machinery preferred
• Expertise in PLC troubleshooting , VFDs
• Proficiency in reliability tools: 5 Why, Pareto, and Fishbone analysis.
• Advanced user of MEX software for equipment management.

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Trade certified Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
• Exceptional change management and conflict resolution abilities.
• Fluent in English
